It’s raining in paradise

I was woken from a deep, scratch free, sleep by the bloody alarm. Ian leapt up, pulled back the curtains and proclaimed that it was chucking it down. I decided to phone reception just to check on our boat trip for today on the Kudu Warrior. Good job I did. I think the guy on reception told me it’s postponed till tomorrow. The English of the staff isn’t great (although it’s a hell of a lot better than my Thai). Good enough for me, we jumped back in bed for a bit longer.
It was still teeming down when we strolled down to breakfast about 10. A large party had arrived last night and they were being very loud, and they had a small child with them. And they all had been partaking of the breakfast champagne that was on offer today. (Presumably not the small child.). Somehow I only fancy breakfast champagne if the sun is shining so I didn’t have any. We lounged around stuffing our faces and fighting with the toast machine for a bit, then stole a couple of muffins and called at reception to book our Head and shoulder massage. Ian is quite excited about it. Back in the room we sat on the balcony relaxing for a bit.

Relaxing with a good book

At the allotted time we arrived in reception to be taken to the spa. A nice guy loaded us into his van, and drove us round the back of our hotel to the spa, which is right next to our building. Oh well, we had a little trip. Inside we were offered some tea again, then filled out the form. Not nearly as demanding as last time and no choice of soft, medium or hard. The spa room itself wasn’t a patch on the other one and we got no foot wash. I was a bit disappointed. Face down on the bed my lady got straight to it. Some viscous jabs to the back of my neck and shoulders, then she dug her fingers in real deep. Luckily there wasn’t too much of that before she started on my head. It was nice but exactly the same as I get from the work experience girl at the hairdressers when she’s washing my hair. After a load of ‘washing’ she gestured for me to sit up. Then she really went for it, pressing down with her arms on my neck so hard I was bent double, in between giving me lots of first year flicks (youngsters, ask your parents). Finally I got the thumping on the back that Ian loved so much last time. All done. Cheers. Now for the ginger tea.
As we exited the spa the rain began in earnest. Back at the room we had a little picnic on the balcony consisting of two stolen muffins, a couple of pippy tangerines and a mini banana. The rain didn’t let up all afternoon so we decided to stay and read. Sometimes swinging on the swingy chair, sometimes sat on the normal one. Lovely. I took a long bath as the temperature is down to about 26. My bites are all just scabby bruises now, itching has gone, so all is good. Except for my neck. I could hardly move it. I had to turn my whole body to look around. All that prodding and poking must have caused some muscle to revolt.
We dodged the raindrops for tea. The restaurant was nearly empty. Our starters were some kind of veggie wraps. It was that or a spicy prawn soup. We both ordered some kind of omelette on rice for main, and were both halfway down a spicy prawn soup kind of thing before we realised it wasn’t an omelette. Never mind, it tasted ok.. and it came with rice!
Back at the room we set the alarm for 7.30 again, more in hope than expectation.

Man of the day

Another masseuse wins it. This time mine for making me feel worse when I left than when I went in

Toilet watch

Our toilet roll ran out so I’m marking it down. 7/10

Homeward bound

We woke to our last day in Thailand after another 11 hour sleep for me, and I felt so much better. We threw back the curtains to the same am...
