The footballer

As I awoke this morning I realised that I had a bite. Not just one, but a cluster. Damn. Last night I had followed Ian’s lead with just the skin so simple. It’s 100% DEET for me from now on. All over. Plus skin so soft. And the sun cream of course. I wasn’t half slippery as we strolled down for breakfast. Booth man wasn’t paying attention so we took our life in our hands and crossed the road ourselves. Nothing coming for miles of course. Another front row table although the number of guests appears to have ratcheted up again. I had French toast today and Ian had Eggs Florentine. The food really is perfectly cooked and presented. No sign of the PJ girls this morning.

Half way through breakfast we spotted him. The footballer!
Speaking to vicky before the holiday we decided that as it is the close season, some footballers may be on holiday. Given that I wouldn’t even recognise most of the Rotherham United players and I watch them every week, Vicky pointed out that I wouldn’t know one if I saw one. But this guy had every mark of your average footballer. Tall. Perfectly, and I mean perfectly, groomed beard. Hair with some swirls in it. Tattoos. And the clincher. His partner was tall, blond, and wearing leather shorts. Ian knows that because he examined the shorts very carefully. We tried to narrow down who it could be. Not premier league as they are all away on international duty. So lower championship or league one maybe. Not Mike Ihikwe as he has a pineapple on his head. Unless, as Ian pointed out, he has shaved it. Not our new player, Shaun McDonald, he can be ruled out straight away. So, a lower league player but not Mike or Shaun. As we set off back to the room the partner set off in front of us, and went into a Pool Villa. Ah. The plot thickens. The pool villas are the lowest of the low at this hotel. Probably not championship then. Maybe even League two. I’ll let you know of any developments.
Back at the villa I changed into my cozzie and damn, Another bite. More swearing and raging at Ian for letting me be so stupid. But calm down, it’s time to relax.
Swim, read, swim, write this blog. Life is good.
But wait. What’s that itchy spot on my arm. Good god, Another! I am keeping the 100% DEET with me at all times now, and spraying it liberally. No sign of the maid this morning so we had the left over fruit from yesterday then suncreamed, savloned, DEETed, skin-so-sifted, and hudrocotisoned up before going down to the beach. We sat on the beach settees and watched the world go by. Well, not much going by went on, in fact none at all. The staff did take a while erecting a pagoda on the beach, presumably for a romantic meal later. We wondered if it was the footballer and his leather clad lady. But that was about all the excitement.

Hope it dosent rain

It had rained in the night and the sky was cloudy, and very heavy. More rain on the way methinks. But sat there relaxing was just lovely. The sea breeze stopped the sweat from breaking out and the temperature appeared quite pleasant. Only 32 degrees today.
The beach is so lovely and the sea so inviting we decided to go in. It was as warm as a bath, and very shallow so I just paddled a bit then had a swim in the infinity pool. That was a bit crowded. A Japanese couple were snorkelling.  As I got out it was happy hour and Ian had ordered two beers so we sat watching the activity for a bit. The pagoda was getting dressed up.

We had decided to go back to the beachside restaurant so we showered and changed before snagging a front table. Rain was in the air and the clouds were rolling in.

A Japanese couple came to the pagoda, took some photos, then went away. They had moved their meal indoors. Shame. The footballer and his lady  were laying by the pool. Ian is not convinced. “He’s never a footballer, he has a belly as big as mine! “. Retired maybe? We’ll never know.
Tea was delicious as usual. I had what they called Beef Tagliatelle, but was just strips of beef on veg. Cooked to perfection.
Ian had the snapper. The sunset was spectacular once again, but a few raindrops were starting to fall. Back at the villa it came down like a shower. We laid on the bed looking out at the pool and the amazing lightning storm that was going on above. My leg began to itch.
Tomorrow we are moving on to our next Hotel, Cape Kudu. We need to be in reception for 10 so had to set an alarm. Most annoying.

Man of the day

The footballer

Toilet watch

I have nothing. Maybe tomorrow.

Homeward bound

We woke to our last day in Thailand after another 11 hour sleep for me, and I felt so much better. We threw back the curtains to the same am...
