All packed we arrived in reception only to be told that our taxi would’nt arrive till 12. No worries we could go back to our villa to wait. So we went back and had another little swim in our private pool. At 11.30the phone rang. “Taxi’s here!”. Ian hadn’t even started his exit preparations! “We’ll be five minutes” he told them. Ha! Twenty minutes later we were in a taxi with a very jolly Thai guy who spoke not a word of English. Going we know not where. Then the rain came. As we arrived on a dock somewhere in the middle of Thailand it was coming down in sheets. Jolly man hefted both our cases high to avoid the flood water and led us to a nicely air conditioned shack labelled ‘Cape Kudu’. Ah, our next Hotel. “Long tail boat in 5 mins or wait for speedboat”, Lady Kudu asked. Er, Long Tail I suppose. Out into the rain again, only this time no Jolly to heft the luggage so we had to drag it through the pools. Over the side of a rickity looking boat we went, followed by the luggage. Lady Kudu had purchased our ticket.
Inside there were a few benches, most occupied by bored looking Thai people, with a few Westerners huddled together. All it needed was a few chickens to set the scene. As the rain continued to lash down we set off. I started to wonder about the headlines. “Six Britons amongst the dead in Thai Long Boat disaster.” What photo would be used for me. One of those nice ones me and Vick had taken professionally I hoped, where he had airbrushed out all the lines. As soon as it had started the rain stopped. The sun came out. And the little Thai man next to me rushed out to the prow to sit on the motorbike stood at the front. (Yes motorbike). It took about 45mins till we docked in Koh Yao Noi, a small island off Phuket. We struggled with our luggage as everything had to be lifted up to get off (including me). God knows how they got the motorbikes off. A guy in a open backed van was there to meet us.
Just off the boat
On our transport
He drove us into what can only be described as ‘the jungle’. Then stopped and got out. “Two Brits abducted on Thai Island”. Not sure what photo they’ll use of Ian. The rain had started to pour again. “Do you want the windows down?”. “Er, no, fine thanks”. As we drew up to the Cape Kudu Hotel it was still lashing down. We were checked in and showed to our room, a bedraggled pair, survivors of a boat disaster and several kidnap attempts, one of us with pus running down both legs. I bet we looked a site. The room was lovely though , cool and sweet smelling.
It had a lovely little balcony and a bath. I do love a bath on hols. We had a coffee then set out to explore, as the rain had abated. The pool looks lovely, as does the beach, although it’s very small.
Ian had just spotted a lizard the size of a dog.

The views across to the other islands are amazing. Once again the rain began so we went to the bar, where it was happy hour. I had a margarita. Ian had a beer and two G and T’s. He’s on holiday.
As we came down for dinner later the manager was handing out free wine. Don’t mind if I do. At this Hotel we have half board so we got a starter, main and pud. They were not as nice as the Atleenta though. The air con in the bedroom though is much quieter and cooler. If only I wasn’t still scratching like a monkey I would get a good nights sleep.
Man of the day
Honourable mention to Tina, but The Jolly Man takes it due to his amazing arm strength
Toilet watch
The one in our hotel bathroom is lovely. 9/10
Just caught up with your blog on our return from Cardiff. As usual, I am enjoying it. The massage story sounds hilarious. I want to see what your bites look like.
